Binding Satan

108 And then shall the first angel again sound his trump in the ears of all living, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the mighty works of God in the first thousand years. 

109 And then shall the second angel sound his trump, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the thoughts and intents of their hearts, and the mighty works of God in the second thousand years— 

110 And so on, until the seventh angel shall sound his trump; and he shall stand forth upon the land and upon the sea, and swear in the name of him who sitteth upon the throne, that there shall be time no longer; and Satan shall be bound, that old serpent, who is called the devil, and shall not be loosed for the space of a thousand years. (Doctrine and Covenants, Doctrine and Covenants, D&C 88)

Some times we dont like to talk about the negative stuff in our the families and in the world.  But by not talking about negative and positive in the right way and in the right spirit, (not gossip) we allow sin to fester and get out of control. We like to imagine it doesn't exist. Like priestcraft in thr Book of Mormon we may prefer to peach a popular doctrine. 

But as we are called according to Gods Holy Order, we must shed light on the good and the bad.  We must not only bind up the broken hearted with the pleasing word of God but sometimes also call to repentance, and enlarge the wounds at times to drain a festering abscess to achieve healing we desire instead of just covering up the lesion hoping it will go away. 

According to D&C 88, acknowledging both the bad with thr good will bind Satan such that he will no longer have power over the hearts of the children if men.
