My Motivation

I printed out my blog 3 years ago.  It made for quite a stack of paper back then.  I'm sure it would make an even more impressive stack today, especially considering that most of the posts have been pecked out on my iphone.  So, why am I doing this blog and the other at "brainbender"?

My motivations are several.  1. Elder Ballard encouraged LDS to be active online.  2. I'm an ED physician and work irregular hours and blogging is a much spiritually safer and uplifting activity than gaming or watching TV or whatever else I could be doing in the middle of the night. 3. After writing my Master's thesis I discovered that the power of discovery in the writing process. I discovered that writing is an integral part of the process of thinking and pondering and "studying it out" in the mind. 4. I'm proud to consider myself a total nerd (not a geek) that loves ideas. Ideas are like friends that I enjoy visiting and revisiting. 5. Ideas can change and ultimately save the world. 6. Maybe some ideas here may be of use and benefit to someone else.  7.  I don't take this blog that seriously, the blogosphere is so large, my blogs are pretty much hidden in an ocean of online content. 8.  I like to keep notes online so I can refer back to them (revisit old friends). 8. I absolutely seek never to criticize any decision, doctrine or officer of the LDS Church.  9. Other then my testimony, I am always willing and open to learn, evolve, rephrase, and clarify my views and opinions. 10. I think this blog has been a small and simple thing that has helped me in my personal scripture study, to stay close to the the Spirit of the Lord, and maybe to experience a bit of the administering of angels.

5 And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God. (Book of Mormon, Alma, Alma 31)
