Mormon Helping Hands

I was pleased to spend the weekend with my daughter in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The ocean-side community was hit hard by Hurricane Matthew last month. The main damage was from downed trees. Members on the Augusta Stake mobilized ourselves, donned our yellow tee-shirts, and caravanned down to Hilton Head. Different LDS stakes were assigned to serve different coastal wards from North Carolina to Florida.
On our way down long-time members recalled past service trips to New Orleans, Alabama, and Florida. I hadn't had a chance to go on preveous service trips because of work conflicts, but I was pleased to be able to participate on this occasion. Several years ago, Augusta was hit by a major ice storm. We appreciated help that came from sourounding areas to help us dig out.
